What is an ISP?

An Internet Service Provider (ISP) is like a utility company delivering electricity, but instead of power, it delivers internet access.

  • First mile ISP: Like a power plant that generates electricity, the first mile connects the global internet backbone to large regional networks, carrying massive amounts of data long distances.

  • Middle mile ISP: Like the high-voltage transmission lines that carry electricity from the power plant to local substations, the middle mile transports data across regions, linking major hubs to local networks.

  • Last mile ISP: Like the neighborhood power lines that deliver electricity into individual homes, the final mile is the local connection (fiber or wireless) that brings the internet directly to the end user.

So, all three work together—generation, transmission, and delivery—to ensure you can “flip the switch” and get online, just like you flip a light switch and get electricity.

Last Mile ISP

Clear Creek Broadband is a last mile ISP. We utilize existing middle mile infrastructure to bring the internet to hard to reach communities that have been largely overlooked by previous ISPs.

The technology we use to deploy the internet to your home gives you, the customer, autonomy over your in-home Wi-Fi system. Today, there are hundreds of different Wi-Fi solutions on the market and Clear Creek Broadband will work with you to find the best solution so that your devices do not have issues reaching your connection to the internet.

Difference between Internet + Wi-Fi

Just as the power company delivers electricity from the grid to your home, Clear Creek Broadband provides a connection between your home and the internet. So, what is Wi-Fi? Wi-Fi is the fixtures, outlets and other methods of using the electricity within your home.

Each home is unique and may require different Wi-Fi solutions to provide the best wireless coverage throughout the home.
